Your next opportunity

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Plant Operator (Grader) Team Leader to join our team. You will lead a small team of staff and contractors to undertake a variety of road maintenance and construction projects.

In this role, you will be responsible for the operation of various plant and machinery to a high standard, including Council's graders, excavators, front end-loaders, low loaders, rigid trucks, heavy compaction equipment and other small plant.

The successful applicant will have extensive experience in the road maintenance and construction industry with a passion for safety and quality while being a valuable team leader.

Essential selection criteria include (see full criteria in Position Description below):

  • Minimum current and valid Class MR Driver Licence
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills
  • Demonstrated experience in the operation of a grader and/or excavator
  • Demonstrated experience in the operation of other earthmoving equipment
  • Sound knowledge and experience in road construction and maintenance
  • Competence in the operation of small plant and equipment
  • Sound interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer skills

On-the-job training may include:

  • Higher Class Driver Licence
  • Working Near Overhead Powerlines Qualifications
  • First Aid Qualification
  • Chainsaw Operations
  • Qualifications for other plant and equipment
  • Forklift Operation

Be rewarded

This position is placed at Grade 5 of Council’s salary system. The salary offered is in the range of $68,700 to $77,300 per annum (inclusive of Superannuation) plus allowances, dependent upon competency level and in accordance with Council’s Salary Policy.

This is a permanent, full-time position offering the benefit of a 38-hour, 4-day working week with ongoing training and development, with most team members working between 6:30 AM and 4:30 PM.
