Your next opportunity

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Plant Operator (Grader) Team Leader to join our team. You will lead a small team of staff and contractors to complete a variety of road maintenance and construction projects.

You will be responsible for the operation of various plant and machinery associated with maintenance and construction projects by Council, including graders, excavators, front-end loaders, low loaders, rigid trucks, heavy compaction equipment and other small plant.

Essential selection criteria include (full criteria in Position Description below):

  • Minimum current and valid Class MR Driver Licence
  • Demonstrated experience operating grader and/or excavator, plus other earthmoving equipment/plant
  • Demonstrated experience leading a small team
  • Competence in the operation of small plant and equipment (e.g. chainsaw)
  • Proven interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Sound literacy, numeracy to Year 10 or equivalent, and computer skills
  • Working knowledge of WHS Act and practices
  • WorkCover WHS Induction Training for Construction Work (White Card)

On-the-job training we can offer:

  • Qualifications for other plant and equipment, including higher Class Driver Licence
  • Opportunities to complete certificate-level training in Civil Construction
  • First Aid Qualifications

  • Traffic Control Certificates

Be rewarded

This position is evaluated between Grade 5 of Council's Salary System. The salary offered is in the range of $64,108 to $72,113 per annum plus 11.5% Superannuation (plus allowances), dependent upon competency level and in accordance with Council’s Salary Policy.

This position is being offered on a fixed-term, full-time basis for 9 months with the benefit of a 38-hour, 4-day working week, ongoing training and professional development, with most team members working between 6:30 AM and 4:30 PM.
